In the context of the Shrine, the Divan is the “Board of Directors” or “Executive Council” of the organization, and serves as the management team for both fraternal and business activities of the Temple. Each Shrine Temple has its own Divan, and the minimum number of Divan members is set by Imperial by-laws at seven, with each of these being elected by the Nobility (membership).

Past Potentates

Each title in the Shrine is derived from Arabic tradition, and each has it’s own set of defined duties and responsibilities. Potentates (both past and present) are addressed as “Illustrious Sir”, Imperial Potentates (both past and present) and members of the Imperial Divan are addressed as “Imperial Sir”, while all other Shriners are addressed as “Noble”.  As past leaders of Hejaz Temple the advice and influence of Past Potentates carries great weight.

Shrine Clubs are groups of Shriners who meet closer to home in order to socialize and  fundraise for our charities on a local level.  Hejaz temple boasts 21 such clubs all over the Upstate.  Each Club has their own leadership independent of the Temple.  Look here to find a local club in your area and join in the fun and fellowship with local nobles.

The Hejaz Shriners are dedicated to fun and fellowship but with a serious purpose. Shriners enjoy many opportunities to find personal fulfillment and satisfaction through supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children. There are twenty-two specialized medical centers, providing state-of-the-art treatment of orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injuries, and burns to children under eighteen without regard to their families’ ability to pay.

Shriners’ researchers are noted as world leaders in their fields, and are respected for the impact of their work on the lives of children everywhere. Areas of research highlighted include muscle wasting, infection and scarring in patients with burns. Shriners Hospitals have world-renowned research experts helping lead the way in orthopedic discoveries and advancements.

By joining the Hejaz Shriners, you can be a part of something that has helped thousands of people throughout the years, and have fun doing it! Along with helping others and each other, Shriners value a good time. The friendships built will always be with you, as will the knowledge of what you’ve accomplished by being a Shriner. Just go to any Shriner parade and you’ll see the good time had by the Shriners and those who attend.

Parades aren’t the only thing Shriners do together, though. Each Temple has various groups and units within it, and there is something for everyone! There are even groups for the wives and daughters of Shriners. There is always something there to help you grow as a person and help the community around you.

Be the premier fraternal organization for men of good character.

Provide attractive, quality programs and services for its members, their families and friends in a spirit of fun, fellowship and social camaraderie.

Foster self improvement through leadership, education, the perpetuation of moral values and community involvement.

Serve mankind through the resources of its great philanthropy, the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

We do everything within our means to make kids better. See how we’re changing lives through our specialty areas of care. Many techniques and treatments that are common in hospitals around the country today were pioneered at Shriner Hospitals for Children. We invite you to join us. You too can have fun while helping kids.
