Illustrious Sir Allen grew up in Rock Hill, SC where he and Jan still reside. He married Jan Hanna in 1981, and they have been married 29 years. They have two wonderful children, Allen and Hanna. Hanna is married to Brad Buchner, of Hilton Head, S.C. Allen, Jr. is engaged to Christie Wright, of Rock Hill. Allen, Sr. and Jan do not have any grandchildren yet, but they do have some really cute grand-dogs.
Allen graduated from Northwestern High School. Upon graduation, Allen attended Winthrop University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1978. After graduating from college, he went into the family business with his father. Allen operated Elliott’s Exxon for nearly 30 years and sold the 60 year old business in December of 2006.
Allen has a passion for restoring vintage cars. He restored a 1923 Anderson car that was on display in The State Museum commemorating the history of automobile production in South Carolina in 1993, when BMW made its début in our fine state. He has restored numerous classic cars on commission throughout his career.
After selling the family owned business, Allen took some needed time off to catch up on some projects around the house. After the completion of those projects, Allen enrolled in the ParalegalProgram at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He graduated in March 2009 with a degree in Paralegal Studies.He is employed by the State of North Carolina in the 26th Judicial District. He is a Superior Court Civil Case Coordinator.
Illustrious Sir Allen comes from a family rich in Masonic tradition. His father Boyce Elliott was a life member of Hejaz Shriners and a Past President of York Crescent Shrine Club. Boyce served York Masonic Lodge 385 as Master in 1958 and 1995.Boyce passed away in 2005. Allen’s brother, Keith, is also a Shriner. His son Allen, Jr. is a member of York Masonic Lodge 385. Allen, Jr. has not yet walked the hot sands. llustrious Sir Allen has been very involved in Masonry and Hejaz since hisinitiation in 1978. He served his Lodge as Master in 1993,President of the 22nd Masonic District Masters and Wardens Cub in 1993 and served as Lodge Secretary from 1994-2005.He also served as Secretary/Treasurer of York Crescent Shrine Club from 2002-2007. Allen has also been very active in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas since 2001. He has served as Distinguished Guest Chairman for many years and will be the 2010 President of the Shrine Bowl. Allen has served on many Potentates staffs and has chaired several Shrine Ceremonies. He has been very instrumental in the success of the many projects which he has chaired.
